Yesterday, my great-grandmother passed away peacefully on her own terms. She was 100 years old! This is a sad moment in life, however, it is a celebrated one. She was an amazing, amazing woman. She took care of 16 children during summers and helped raised I think about 24+ grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I am happy to say that she was my Big Mama.
Now, why does genetics come into this? Well think about it. I have a great-grandmother who lived to be 100 years old. My great-aunt (her sister) was in her 90’s when she passed 4 years ago. My great-grandfather on my dad’s side was in his 90’s before he passed and my wonderful grandfather on my dad’s side was the epitome of the energizer bunny in elderly form. So I have amazing grandparents and great-grandparents who were not only healthy, but loving and care giving. They would all tell me amazing, crazy stories (especially grandpa) and donate their time and love to all their grand and great-grandchildren. I am happy to say that I am proud of them. I guess I will live a while if i keep healthy. Their also has to be a happy gene right? All of them were happy all. the. time. Their has to be a loving gene too. So, I am pretty predisposed to live a long, loving, happy, healthy life thanks to an amazing ancestry. Everyone deserves to have this. I am thankful
So in short, I love you Big Mama. You have been an amazing impact on my life. I can’t wait until you, grandpa, great-grandpa, and Aunt Irene see me become a doctor!
With love,
Ashley
